Eitan: I have an idea

Sarah: Oh yeah? What’s that?

Eitan: We should say the Sh’ma

Sarah: I haven’t recited the sh’ma in a million years.

Eitan: so why not do it with me right now?

Sarah: can’t I just listen to you say it?

Eitan: you could, but why not just try.

Sarah: because you speak Hebrew fluently and I’m afraid I’ll mispronounce it.

Eitan: Okay, repeat after me then.

Listening to him say it I knew every word, every syllable was still there. Like a strange muscle memory.

Eitan: doesn’t that just make you feel at peace?

Sarah: a little.
