I’ve written on here before about how much the whole Doug Hutchinson/Courtney Stodden thing upsets me: https://neuroticall.wordpress.com/2011/07/27/not-the-girl-that-i-intend-to-be/
But as I was reading a gossip blog today I saw another post about them that just literally made me sick.
The couple had gone to a pumpkin patch, allegedly to “pick out a pumpkin.”
But instead spent the time acting like it was Courtney’s personal photo shoot and making out.
They eventually were kicked off the patch considering pumpkin patches are typically places to go with your family.
Imagine you and your grandparents and your 4 year old niece being accosted by this on your way over to the apple cider donuts:
And I just, I just don’t understand.
Where the hell are her parents?! Why oh why did they allow their 16 year old at the time daughter to marry this grown ass man? Why haven’t they realized their mistake and forced her to get a divorce (considering at 17 she’s still a %$##@$ minor?!)
Why don’t they put some clothing on her at the very, very least?
It just makes me so ashamed. So incredibly deeply ashamed to live in a country where we consider marriages like these to be justified and not those unions that happen to be same sex. For the record if a 50 year old gay man or lesbian woman wanted to marry a 16 year old gay boy or lesbian girl I would be equally as outraged.
I know maybe some of you reading this might think I don’t have a leg to stand on in this matter but I’d argue my experiences make me all the more qualified to say that this is a horrible, damaging thing for this girl. And in two years when Courtney is being interviewed by Barbara Walters from her room at a freakin’ rehab facility (because come on what other lovely roads could this girl be heading down she’s wearing denim panties in a mother effing pumpkin patch!!!) I’m going to watch and I’m going to shake my head and I’m going to be sad for her.
And its easy for me to look at Courtney dressed like a playboy centerfold in public and get pissed and call her a slut. But then I remember that she’s 17. Seventeen years old.
Seventeen! You are supposed to be reading this magazine on a glittery bed spread somewhere, Courtney! Not showing everyone on the pumpkin patch your hoo hah!
And even if she’s a year away from being an “adult” in the eyes of the law she is still a minor. And her parents are still ultimately in charge of telling her what she can and cannot wear. OH WAIT MAYBE NOT BECAUSE YOU LET YOUR DAUGHTER MARRY A 51 YEAR OLD MAN LOL JKAY MAYBS YOU SHOULD RETHINK YOUR CHOICES NEXT TIME KTHANX BAI!!
So there’s really only one person to look to here.
Doug…come on man.
If you insist on having a child bride couldn’t you at least make sure her areola are covered in public? Its really the least you could do I think.
